FOR most men the thought of spending the rest of their life living with the mother-in-law would be a nightmare.

But not for 53-year-old Clive Blunden who married the mother of his ex-wife at Warrington Register Office on Saturday.

For him it was a dream come true when he vowed to love and cherish the grandmother of his two grown up children till death us do part.

After signing an exclusive deal with a Sunday newspaper for the wedding photos and interviews for an undisclosed sum, the newlyweds left Warrington register office separately, hoping to avoid a media scrum.

Comedic scenes ensued as photographers snapped a suddenly camera shy Clive and Brenda leaving the venue with the bride attempting to drive off while covering her head and face with a scarf.

But their vain attempts to avoid other publications were thwarted when the unusual wedding appeared in numerous Sunday tabloids.

Ironically, the register office is just yards away from the police station where Clive was held in the cells for his intention to marry 66-year-old Brenda.

But thanks to a change in the law, the union of a mother-in-law with her former son in law is no longer forbidden and the Westy couple made history when they tied the knot Despite breaking the story first, the Warrington Guardian was told by Clive and Brenda to speak to our agent' for any information about their big day as they had signed an exclusive deal for the rights to photograph the nuptials.
