HAYES and Harlington Labour MP John McDonnell has rebelled against Tony Blair over plans to renew Britain's Trident defence system of nuclear weapons-armed submarines.
Mr Blair only survived with support from the Tories on Wednesday evening and John McDonnell - a contender for the Labour leadership - said that Labour members would be "appalled" that Mr Blair was relying on the Tories to push it through.
More than 90 Labour MPs rebelled against the Government at the end of a debate lasting six hours.
During the debate, protesters in Parliament Square brought traffic to a halt.
