LARKHALL ATH 1, BRIDPORT 2, BRIDPORT came from behind to notch a fantastic Toolstation Western Divis-ion One victory at Larkhall Athletic.

Outclassed in the opening 20 minutes at Plain Ham, the Bees slowly warmed to their task before running out deserved winners with strikes from Dan Wise and Andy Hall.

Jack Moon had opened the scoring for the Somerset hosts but his effort was all they had to show for a period of near total dominance at the start of the game.

"They took us apart to start with and we had to reorganise a little bit," said Bridport boss Paul Hammond.

"Then for the last ten or 15 minutes of the first half we did really well.

"In the second half I thought we played as good as we have done all year. We were really disciplined. We kept the ball well and created some really good chances."

Bridport went into the game on the back of a disappointing reversal against Bradford Town at St Mary's Field.

And determined not to make the same mistakes again Ham-mond switched to a 4-5-1 formation, deploying recalled Tom Coggins as a shield in front of the back four.

The tactic worked perfectly with Larkhall unable to turn long periods of possession into clear cut openings.

"We haven't had a problem scoring goals but we have been a little bit naive defensively," said the boss.

"I felt we needed to be in control and stay level for longer. It worked pretty well today and that's all credit to the players because they worked really, really hard."

Moon raced on to a lobbed pass, brushed Chris Senior aside and tucked the ball past Martin Peters to give Larkhall the lead after 28 minutes. And it was no more than the home side deserved after they peppered the Bees' rearguard in the opening skirmishes.

But after Peters pulled off a great stop to deny Moon a second they quickly lost their way.

Seven minutes before the break Hall teed up Wise following a knock down from lone striker Anthony Cunningham and the winger's thumping drive was too hot for Chris Birleson to handle and ricocheted home off the upright.

Chris Skinner and Moon both had good chances at either end as the second half opened but it was Hall that found the net after 53 minutes.

Wise turned provider and crossed left footed for the skipper, alone at the back post, to head firmly beyond Birleson.

Larkhall became increasingly frustrated by the Bees' resolve but Hammond's men kept their composure to record a confidence-boosting win.

Peters was brilliant at the death, a couple of outstanding punches and solid stops kept his side in front, and at the other end Skinner and Wise both went close to putting the icing on the cake.

Coggins was superb in Brid-port's engine room while Gary Bulman was handed a first team debut at right back.

Hammond said: "It was nice to see Tom back in the first team. He was great today and didn't stop running.

"Gary looked a little bit shaky to start with, maybe a little bit nervous, but once he got past that his passing and reading of the game was excellent."
