JILL Woods Theatre Company will be presenting Follow the Star, a rock musical, at the Market House, Minchinhampton next month.

It will be the first time that they have performed in their home town since Godspell in January 2000.

The show starts in heaven with the boss', Olly, trying to sort out his team of wacky angels.

There's Livepudlian Avaline who is guardian angel to Herod and has a very hard time trying to make him be good and little Gabby, who is small and knows that if she performs her tasks well she will grow a bit.

Then there are the glamorous angels, Angy, Loft and Jelly, who love singing and dancing but are a little neglectful of their task to find the three wise men, and many other angels, including a group of younger angels who are still in school.

On earth we meet Herod, who is an East End gangster, Mary and Joseph, a very endearing modern couple and many more interesting characters.

The show is full of comedy and pathos and has great music performed by a lively band, big production numbers, lovely modern day costumes and a shimmery set.

Follow the Star enjoyed a season in the West End and is ideal family entertainment so be prepared to enjoy yourself. Start practising, He's behind you,' to shout whenever Herod creeps across the stage looking for baby Jesus.

Jill Woods says, "It's lovely to be back where I first directed this production 11 years ago. This time my talented Youth Company are in top form, with some really stunning performances and we are really enjoying rehearsals."

Follow the Star will be at the Market House, Minchinhampton, from Tuesday March 6 to Saturday March 10, at 7.30pm, with a matinee on Saturday at 3pm.

Tickets are available from M and B Stores, Minchinhampton or Barry Woods on 01453 882550.
