Specialist paediatric nurse Charlotte Edward reckons her regular Thursday night sessions with Rebecca are the highlight of her week.

For a start, she is greeted to a chorus of the anthem Simply the Best as she walks through the door - courtesy of Rebecca.

In between the serious business of handling Rebecca's medical care, the pair always enjoy singing Disney tunes.

And now Charlotte is educating Rebecca about her own favourite musicals, including Grease and the Sound of Music.

She describes the way Rebecca has handled her disability as "amazing".

She said: "She has adapted to what has happened in her life amazingly well, particularly because of the Prader-Willi syndrome.

"The impact has been different with other people, but she seems to have just accepted it.

"She really makes me laugh, the way she greets you in the morning.

"She's always just so pleased to see you.

"She loves talking to people and takes a huge interest in everyone. She never forgets a thing."

Charlotte is responsible for training the team of 12 carers who will take over Rebecca's care when she moves back home to Wickford.

It is hoped the process will be able to start in time for Christmas, with Rebecca initially going home at weekends only.

Later her stays will be slowly extended so she gradually spends more and more time at home.

Charlotte said: "I'm going to miss her when she's home and I will miss and miss the Lings as a family, too.

"Julie is dedicated to looking after her daughter while making sure she also meets the needs of the rest of her family in a healthy way.

"She is becoming an expert in Rebecca's care."
