A DOG whose leg was broken in two places in a car accident needs a new home.

The two-year-old lurcher, called Suzie, was discovered badly hurt in Wolsingham, County Durham, earlier in this month. She was also underweight and had no identifying collar or microchip.

Volunteers working for the North-East Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue group have taken her in while she continues her rehabilitation. The charity has paid the £700 bill for veterinary treatment for Suzie, who needed a metal plate in her leg.

Margaret Gardener, of the group, said: "The treatment was very expensive.

"The injured leg has been repaired and the pain for her has gone down, so she is getting quite bouncy now and is a lovely dog."

Anyone who could re-home Suzie would have to pay an adoption fee, but she would be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped first.
