BANK Holiday Monday, August is 27, is 'silly hat day' on the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway. Once a year, all the volunteers who run our railway dig out their silliest hats and come down to Chinnor to welcome our passengers with a big smile. What is more, any child who comes down on Monday wearing a silly hat will get a free ride. There is no need to book in advance and fares for adults are only £5 and Senior Citizens £4.

THE first meeting to discuss, debate and plan a future for Risborough took place yesterday in St Marys Parish Hall and attendees included Risborough Churches Together, Risborough Rotary Club, Princes Risborough Town Council, Risborough Community Association, Bucks Community Action, Town Centre Forum and Wycombe District Council. If you want a say in the future of your town then you can be part of this process that will bring together all individuals and groups over the coming months and consult with everyone who lives, works or shares an interest in the town. Ring Dave Furze on 01494 421853 at Wycombe District Council if you or your organisation wish to become involved.

HIGHWAY contractors have completed their work to alter the design of the much criticised pedestrian crossing in New Road. Motorists have complained about the poor sight lines on the approach and local pedestrians have voiced concern about the length of crossing and lack of central refuge. The road surface approaching the crossing is now in a contrast finish.

PLEASE respond to the wildlife and environmental questionnaire organised by the Risborough Countryside Group. Issues such as local footpaths, loss of hedgerows and trees, and the local management of nature reserves and other local wildlife sites. The exercise is part of the community planning programme being implemented at parish level by Wycombe District Council. Its not too late to participate. Pick up your questionnaire at the WDC information centre in Horns Lane.
