The shooting of a student in a Bradford park became a murder inquiry today when police revealed that he had died.
Skander Habib Rehman, 20, was blasted in the head at close range by a gunman at Brackenhill Park, Lidget Green, in broad daylight on Monday morning.
Police confirmed that the Bradford University IT student had died of his injuries at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out later today.
The hunt for the gunman is being led by Detective Superintendent Dave Oldroyd, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team of West Yorkshire police.
Det Supt Oldroyd said there appeared to be no clear motive for the shooting of Skander, who lived with his family in Girlington, Bradford, and came from a respectable background.
Police were today continuing to comb the park for evidence.
They have appealed for anyone who was there at about 11.30am on Monday or anyone else with information about the shooting to contact Bradford North police helpdesk on (01274) 376259 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
