I REMEMBER the time when Carr Mill Dam used to be a beauty spot in St Helens. In the late 50s and early 60s I spent many an enjoyable day with my mates in the area. Today however we seem to read every week in our newspaper how the area is being left to people who don't seem to value anything.

I refer to the flytipping which seems to go unpunished despite the evidence of who some of the articles belong to and also the deplorable attack on a family pet horse, which the owner claimed was just the latest example of unchecked criminal activity at the local beauty spot'.

Why is nothing being done? St Helens Council is supposed to be a four star council. God help the one star councils.

And finally what are the three local Lib Dem councillors doing about it?
