POLICE are stepping up patrols in a community plagued by anti-social behaviour and crime.
The Argus reported how more than 200 people in Sebastopol met police a fortnight ago demanding more officers to tackle anti-social behaviour and vandalism perpetrated by gangs of yobs on their streets.
Despite reacting angrily when they were told no more police were available residents agreed a plan of action which included reporting the names of the ringleaders and forming a 'safer neighbourhood group'.
Just two days after the meeting a local business suffered an arson attack.
Now Gwent Police says it is stepping up patrols in the area in response to residents' concerns.
More in tomorrow's Argus.
