THEY may have run amok through Britain hundreds of years before her birth, but for one little girl from Hampshire it was still a topic that fascinated and enthralled her.
Eight-year-old Olivia Hall met her first real' Viking in Winchester this week when Sigurd - aka Dave Hall - let her try on his helmet and feel the weight of his sword.
The Vikings are at The City Museum in Winchester all weekend where they will be showing how domestic and military life was led during their reign of terror during Britain's Dark Ages.
The weekend's events also coincide with the conclusion of a national competition run as part of the launch for Bernard Cornwall's latest book The Lords of the North.
