Kingston scouts have spread far and wide. Douglas Reynolds, from Surbiton, joined 1st Tolworth Scout group in the 1930s.

Whilst serving in the Royal Air Force, in Burma, during World War II, Douglas formed a Rover Scouts group, Nomads'.

He said: "We didn't do anything outstanding, but kept the spirit of scouting alive."

If you have scouting memories like this, contact the Surrey Comet.

Starting later this month, we will be dispelling the dib dib dib' myths behind the Scouting movement and featuring each of the 17 Kingston scout groups. We would also like to hear from any former Kingston scouts who have shot to fame, or who are well-known in the community.

All the photos and stories we receive will also appear on a scouts area of surreycomet.co.uk. Email your photos and stories to hblades@london.newsquest.co.uk, send them to Hollye Blades, Unecol House, 819 London Road, North Cheam, Surrey SM3 9BN or call 020 8330 9553.
