FORMER Grand Prix driver and team owner, Jackie Oliver, is one of the stars of the Castle Combe Circuit's Husqvarna Retro Race Day on Easter Monday, April 9.

The opening meeting of the 2007 season, the event focuses on Classic racing from the '50s, '60s and '70s, eras in which Oliver made his name, firstly as a Formula 1 driver for Lotus and BRM and latterly as owner of the Arrows team.

In recent times, Oliver has been making his name on the classic racing scene and on this occasion will be driving a 1965 BMW 1800 Ti in the Top Hat race for Pre 1966 Touring cars, sharing with Richard Shaw. His opposition ranges from a 982cc Fiat Abarth to 7.0-litre Ford Galaxies, including one occupied by Barrie Williams.

Spectators have an opportunity to meet the drivers and see the cars from the Castle Combe circuit-based championships with the new grid walkabout during the lunch break, with each championship on display at various points around the track.

Monday's action starts at 8.40 am with qualifying, racing getting under way from 13.00 pm.

Admission prices are £15 for adults, £7.50 for OAPs, £2.50 for paddock transfer, whilst accompanied children under 15 are admitted free.
